The third edition was preceded by two other editions – 1994 (edition of “Pras-Atra”) and 1996 (edition of Oleg Abyshko).
This is a Biographical Encyclopedia, which includes the names and biographies of the most prominent figures in science, education and church leaders who played an important role in the history and life of the Assyrian people in the 19th and 20th centuries in Russia (296 pages).
About the author.
Archimandrite Stefan (Sargon) Sado continues the scientific activity of his father Mikhail Yukhannovich Sado (1934 – August 30, 2010), who has been collecting archival materials on the history of the Assyrians all his life.
Awa Stefan Sado was born in 1965 in Leningrad. As I have already mentioned, he is the son of the late Professor Mikhail Sado and Zinaida Sado (she had a birthday on the day of the presentation of the book). Father Stephen is an archimandrite of the Russian Orthodox Church, a resident of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, head of the library and archives of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, a confessor who accepts the confessions of the students of the Academy and residents of the city of St. Petersburg.
In 1989 he was ordained a deacon. In the same year, he was tonsured a monk by Metropolitan Alexy (now the patriarch of All Russia) and ordained a hieromonk. He graduated from seminary, and then from the Theological Academy of St. Petersburg in 1990 (graduated with honors). His Ph.D. work was devoted to the history of the Urmia mission in Iran.
Since 1996, head of the library of the Theological Academy.
In 1998 he was elevated to the rank of abbot.

On October 22, 2015, by the decision of the Holy Synod, he was appointed a member of the bilateral commission for dialogue between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Assyrian Church of the East. On April 7, 2017, he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite.
Together with his father, he participated in the collection of materials and the installation of the Monument to the repressed Assyrians in the city of Leningrad at the Levashovskaya Wasteland Memorial Cemetery in 2000.

Interview with Rabi Ashor Odicho and his son Ninos.

Rabi Odisho has been teaching Assyrian language, as mother tongue, in the Swedish official schools in the town of Jönköping since 1998 until he retired few years ago. Rabi Ashor is sharing his experiences with us in this interview. His son, the talented young man, Ninos Odicho, is studying at the university, and he will obtain his bachelor’s degree this summer. Ninos does read and write Assyrian, and he can speak it in a very good level.
