Mr. Eugene Lopatin is born and raised in the Assyrian village Urmia in Russia; he has also been a teacher in the village’s school for many years. The Lopatin family has had very good relations with Assyrians for more than 100 years, and Eugene is raised among Assyrians and he understands Assyrian.
Every year in early May Assyrians from all over Russia gather in the village of Urmia (Russia). It consists of Assyrian soccer teams tournament and various folk groups performing Assyrian dances.

Rabi Odisho has been teaching Assyrian language, as mother tongue, in the Swedish official schools in the town of Jönköping since 1998 until he retired few years ago. Rabi Ashor is sharing his experiences with us in this interview. His son, the talented young man, Ninos Odicho, is studying at the university, and he will obtain his bachelor’s degree this summer. Ninos does read and write Assyrian, and he can speak it in a very good level.
